Being Free from the Incarceration of Your Sin

Chain Gang 2012

Some of us are living a life of imprisonment within our own mind by giving ourselves our own sentence of punishment. Each morning some will continue to shackle themselves from their past situations even after they have asked God for forgiveness. Why are we so hard on ourselves? We hear time and time again that in order to truly move on we have to ‘forgive ourself in order to forgive others’ but what if there is no one to blame? What if it was you who that has done the damage and now looking into how to repair it in order to move forward?  How do you actually forgive yourself?

Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us freee. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened by the yoke of slavery. The first step is acknowledging the past and understanding, IT IS THE PAST! The past is suppose to help build you and help you to become wiser for the future. Not hinder your future. Embrace your milestones of where you were, to who you are as a person, into who you are becoming within your christian walk.

The second step is PRAYING. Pray and ask God to break the bondage the devil is trying to hold against you. The devil knows that when you forgive yourself of whatever it is that you feel like you can’t move forward from–you are going to be that testimony for others and he doesn’t want that to happen. So he enters those negative thoughts and/or obstacles to hold you back mostly in the morning and night because those are the two primary times that have the most impact. He uses these two times because both can set the atmosphere on how you will either start your day or wallow in your thoughts at night.

However, in the midst of your prayer, emphasize and focus on this third step, and that is SURRENDERING. Surrendering creates humblesness and with humbleness comes peace in knowing that God has forgiven your sins. You see, He has created a life for you that goes beyond your past, beyond what you think are setbacks, beyond the lies the devil is telling, and beyond what you can envision for your life. Give up on trying to get through your past or unforgiveness by yourself, because once you acknowledge that you alone cannot get through this cycle of imprisonment and you pray to to god for His strength and lean soley on him; by surrendering your thoughts to him will change your way of thinking. You will find not only the layers of you who you are as a person, but will give you a chance to break free to see who God has created you to be. #FreeYourMind
